1993 SDS started manufacturing physical subterranean (underground) data storage vaults for storage of backup tapes, etc. The vaults were placed 13 feet underground, incased in steel, cement, another layer of steel, and finally another layer of cement The underground vaults would rise out of the ground by entering a code. 1997 The two owners had a vision: Install servers, firewalls, routers, battery backup, etc in the underground vaults, and offer Remote Online Backup Services using the internet as a transport medium from the client to the highly secure underground servers. A vision that helped create an online backup industry.

1999 For nearly 2 years the owners worked on creating an Enterprise Class Remote Online Backup Service located in their UNDERGROUND vaults. The service became a reality in February of 1999. Their Remote Online Backup Service went live targeting large enterprise companies. It was a huge success. Large and small companies used the service. Their underground remote online backup service has enjoyed double digit growth for 9 years straight and a 98% client retention rate since 1999!

2002   Subterranean Data Services created a Data Recovery Department using FBI recovery tools. The department recovered data for large and small companies that experienced crashed hard drives, followed by defective backups. After the data was recovered, most of the data recovery clients became Remote Online Backup clients.

2006   Subterranean Data Services recognizing a need for an inexpensive online backup services for small offices, started moving towards a Home Edition Online Backup Service and a Small Business Edition Online Backup Service, to compliment their Enterprise Class online backup service for large companies.

2007   Subterranean Data Services went live with their new Home Edition and Small Business Edition Online Backup Service.

2008  Subterranean Data Services still sustains 98% client retention rate, despite the economy. Nine years in a row now.

2009  In late 2009 Subterranean Data Services expanded their very successful Small Business PLUS Online Backup Service.

2010   Subterranean Data Services now stores their clients' data in 9 secure data centers, replicating the data every 4 hours to one of the other data centers.
